Initial Situation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wuxi is a city in Jiangsu Province not far from the well-known port metropolis of Shanghai. Wuxi is a dynamic and up-and-coming city. Many well-known companies are already located in the districts administered by the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND). These companies include Robert Bosch, Danfoss, AstraZeneca and Schneider Electric, to name but a few. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Administrative Committee of the Wuxi Hi-Tech Zone is planning to develop a new area within the managed area. The development is specifically aimed at attracting European and German companies. The already named \"China-EU Industrial Innovation Zone\" is to be built in the north-east of the area and will meet the requirements of European manufacturing companies in particular. The allocated area is 24.5 square kilometers in the Meicun subdistrict and is intended in particular to serve as a bridge for trade between China and the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A consultancy report was commissioned by the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District to provide a reliable basis for the development of the area. This report was prepared by a local Chinese consulting firm. From the point of view of those responsible, however, this report largely ignores the European perspective. There is a lack of concrete demand perspectives from the perspective of European companies in order to take into account the requirements of the European Commission with regard to ecological and social aspects in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO is to examine the existing report. Where relevant content and perspectives regarding the needs of European companies are missing, these should be added to the report. In addition, a concept for a China-German Innovation Center is to be developed in order to further support the establishment of such a center. This is intended to provide additional support for cooperation between local companies and international companies with local locations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To draw attention to the joint project, the Fraunhofer IAO will report on the project. Existing contacts will also be used to raise awareness of the project and Wuxi's innovative approach in Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
